The Benefits Of Fasting

Fasting is an effective and safe way to get rid of toxins which build up over time in the body. Fasting can be helpful in any illness by giving the body the rest it needs to recover. The body periodically try to rid it self from toxins and releases them from the tissues. As a result you may suffer from headaches, diarrhea, or depression. With fasting you can help your body to detoxify itself and move thru this cycle with grater speed and fewer symptoms. The energy needed to digest food can be used to support immune function, cell growth, and eliminatory process. By fasting regularly you give all of your organs a rest and this way reverse the aging process and live a longer and healthier life.

Fasting can help you to heal with grate speed, cleanse your liver, kidneys, and colon, purify your blood, help you to loose excess weight and puffiness, flush out toxins, clear the eyes and tongue, and cleanse the breath. Garlic will help to get rid of many types of parasites.

You can accomplish different things depending on the length of the fasting. If you just want to get rid of majority of toxins and to cleanse the blood, a three day-fast will do that. To rebuild the immune system and to start the healing process you would have a five-day fast. By having a ten-day fast many health problems can be taken care of before they arise.

Before fasting eat only raw vegetables and fruits for two days. This way fasting will no be such a shock to your system. During the fast drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of distilled water every day. Have pure juices and up to two cups of herbal tea a day. All juices must be diluted with water. Add 1 part water and 3 parts juice. Orange and tomato juices are not allowed when fasting. Green drinks made of leafy vegetables are great detoxifiers.

If you must eat something when fasting, eat a piece of watermelon by itself with no additional foods. Or try some fresh applesauce made in blender. Don’t give up if you have some bad moments. To promote cleansing of the colon take fiber supplements before and after fasting daily, but not during the fast. Wheat bran may irritate the colon. Oat bran, psyllium seed husks and ground flaxseed are excellent sources of fiber.

As toxins are released from your body you may experience symptoms like headache, fatigue, dizziness, irritability, anxiety, bad body odor, diarrhea, dark urine, body aches, insomnia, skin eruptions, scaly skin, nausea, coughing, foul smelling stools, visual and hearing problems, sinus and bronchial mucus discharge and then some. Fasting is rather personal experience what comes to symptoms of detoxifying process. These symptoms are not serious, and will not last long. Daily lemon juice enema should bring some relief. Colonics during a fast will usually keep you almost symptom free. Find a licensed professional to go to.

After the fast you should again follow the two-day diet of raw vegetables and fruits. Try to find pure organic produce. Don’t ruin the effects of the fasting by eating cooked food immediately afterward. Eat frequently and small meals for few days, because the size of the stomach and the mount of the secreted digestive juices may have decreased during fasting.

All fasts should be supervised by a doctor. Kevin Trudeau has a Natural Cures website where you can find doctors who are familiar with alternative healthcare. It has taken YEARS for your body to wear down, and it will take time to build it back to its peak condition again. It may take some effort, but it can be done.

Colon Cleansers Can Harm

Colon cleansers are foods and laxatives that loosen your stool and make you go to the bathroom. The latest research shows that regular use of laxatives or colon cleansers can harm you by blocking the absorption of healthful nutrients from your colon into your bloodstream.

The bebeficial bacteria in your colon convert undigested starches into short chain fatty acids that heal ulcers, prevent colon cancer and other cancers, reduce the pain of arthritis, prevent the arterial damage of arteriosclerosis, lower cholesterol, and even lower high blood pressure.

100 years ago, Ilya Metchnikoff noticed that people who lived in the mountains of Hungary appeared to live to a very old age. They didn’t live longer, but they had such a hard life that they looked much older than they were. Metchnikoff knew that they ate yogurt every day and that yogurt is loaded with lactobacilli, bacteria that can grow in your intestinal tract.

He felt that these good bacteria displaced bad bacteria that normally live in your intestines and secrete toxins that shorten your life. His theory of autointoxication is that food that is not absorbed in the upper intestinal tract passes to your colon, where bad bacteria ferment it to form poisons that are absorbed into your bloodstream to shorten your life and even cause cancer.

At the same time in Battle Creek, Michigan, John Harvey Kellogg, of cereal fame, was preaching the same thing. He claimed that undigested food passes to the colon where bacteria break it down to form toxic products that pass into your bloodstream to shorten your life. He prescribed colonics to wash out the undigested foods so the toxic products do not get into your bloodstream.

Of course, this is nonsense. There are two absorption systems in your body. First the food that you eat passes into your stomach and upper intestines, where secretions from your liver, stomach, intestines and pancreas break down carbohydrates, fats and proteins into their building blocks, which are absorbed into your bloodstream to keep your body healthy. The food that is not broken down into basic sugars, amino acids, fatty acids and glycerol cannot be absorbed so it passes to your colon. So far, researchers have identified more than 500 different types of bacteria that grow naturally in your colon. Almost all are harmless and some break down these unabsorbed carbohydrates to short chain fatty acids that are necessary for your health. It is these chemicals absorbed from your colon that prevent and reduce inflamation that aggravates arthritis, and certain cancers, and other fatty acids lower cholesterol and help prevent heart attacks.

Using colon cleansers or laxatives reduces the absorption of these beneficial short chain fatty acids, and you lose basic nutrients. People who recommend colonics and laxatives claim that they remove stool that gets stuck and rots in your colon. This also is ridiculous. Undigested waste products stick together by a physical process called surface tension. Stool behind never passes stool ahead, without first picking up the stool and binding to it as it passes to the outside. Colonics and laxatives not only have not been shown to help you, they can harm you be depriving you of certain nutrients that are necessary for health.

Detox Guide Types of Detox Drinks for Effective Cleansing of our System

There are literally hundreds of detox drinks available on the internet and in health-food stores however the vast majority of them have a number of ingredients in common, many of which act as diuretics (to flush out toxins) and laxatives (to flush out toxins in a slightly different way!)

There are three major types of detox drink though and these are juices, water and herbal teas.

Juices

Pretty much any fruit and vegetable can be made into a detox juice drink with a juicing machine. In this way, your fruit and veg retain much higher quantities of vitamins and antioxidants which in turn benefit you. According to detox experts the best juices for detox purposes include celery, cucumber, carrot, apple, pineapple, lemon and ginger however any drink that you want to try can be tries - experiment is the key.

You should try to buy organic produce fresh from a farm shop or somewhere similar so that you know it has only been picked in the last 24-48 hours. The longer a fruit or vegetable sits on a shelf the more of its vitamin content it losses and the less it will help your detox.

Water

Distilled water or mineral water is essential during a detox programme because it is the main flushing-out ingredient. One point though - the water needs to low-aluminium because aluminium is a heavy metal and a toxin in its own right.

It is recommended that you try to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day however you should be careful not to go overboard as it is very easy to upset the body’s natural and very delicate water balance.

Herbal teas

There is a whole range of herbal teas suitable for detoxing however you must make sure that the one you choose is naturally caffeine free. Many people automatically think that green tea is a detox drink however normal green tea contains caffeine so be sure to find a caffeine free alternative.

Dandelion and Burdock tea is especially good for detoxing as is jasmine and lemon tea. Try a number of different varieties until you find a few you like. Some can be quite bitter however a touch of honey works wonders.

Detox drinks are as important to a detox regime as the diet itself so find a couple you like and stick to them. You can always try a few more next time you detox.
